Guilty pleasures: a retail shift, a Primark pair and a first sale

Long days on a shop floor, a conversation with the girls at work, and a shop on Sole Obsession a week later. Guilty pleasures on her first sale, how long a pair is worn, and why she keeps it anonymous. In her own words.

"It's not dirty, it's not degrading, it's living. If my socks make someone happy and their money makes me happy and we didn't hurt anyone, then why should we be ashamed."

Guilty pleasures, October 2026

01How it started

I work in a busy retail environment, it's long hard days, and me and the girls started talking about what we could do to earn extra cash. Someone suggested selling socks. Initially I laughed it off, but then I looked into it and thought, why not give it a go!

02Where the idea came from

I'd read articles before, but at work was my first proper conversation about doing it. I think it's really a win-win: someone gets what they want and I get less washing, so why wouldn't I give it a try.

03The first sale

I genuinely never expected to make a sale, so I was not really thinking too much about it. When it happened I was actually really excited. I just randomly checked the site before bed and saw my item had sold. At first I didn't believe it, but then I checked my email and sure enough it had! It was so simple. I just printed the label, packaged and sent it, and the buyer received it the next day. The money cleared quickly. I am so happy with the whole process I've been telling everyone to sign up.

04A typical pair

I wear them for the length of my shift. At home I'm a barefoot kinda girl. My shift length varies, so I like to be clear on how long it actually was worn. I work hard on my feet in a really busy retail environment, so I'm always running around in them. If I'm advertising them I take pics as soon as I get in and put them straight in a ziplock bag, ready to go.

05What sells

I've only made one sale, but it has only been one week. I was surprised that I advertised a branded pair and just an old Primark pair, and it was the Primark ones that sold.

06Where the buyers come from

I haven't brought any buyers over yet, as I am a complete newbie to this world, but I have just started my OnlyFans, @u599006487, where content will be uploaded weekly, and I am advertising my Sole Obsession shop on there now. So my actual buyer was a random buyer.

07Staying anonymous

I only use my feet. Even if you want to sell underwear, you don't need to cross that line. On my OnlyFans I only show my bare feet, and I use gloves to hide my hands. I think it's better. The person watching or buying can imagine whoever they want wearing that item.

08What the money did

I only made £21, so it's not changing the world yet. But it gave me a bit of confidence and the thought to do something more with it, which is how I now have an OnlyFans account.

09Why here

Honestly, ChatGPT led me to this site. I did also try another site, but it's way more complicated to do anything on there, and DMs are way more open for people to know who you are. I like the anonymity of this.

10The myth she wants to kill

When I tell people that I've done this they give me a look. It's not dirty, it's not degrading, it's living. If my socks make someone happy and their money makes me happy and we didn't hurt anyone, then why should we be ashamed.
